iPod shuffle catching fire (how not to fix an ipod)

Story about a guy who tried to fix his iPod shuffle and it ended up with sparks, flames and smoke flying out of it. I'm just surprised how much of the ipod melted. Its made of quite tough plastic. Think he must have got into the battery or something.
